What do I need to do to get physical therapy services?
You need to obtain a prescription from your physician for physical therapy. This must have a diagnosis with the frequency or number of visits.

I have a prescription for PT but it has another clinic's name on it. Can I still use it at MIHP?
YES, by law you have the choice to go to physical therapy you choose regardless of name or address on the prescription.

Are your services covered by insurance?
Yes, we are providers for most third party insurance companies.

What insurance does MIHP accept?
BSBC, PPOM, MEDICARE, UNITED HEALTH CARE, M-CARE PPO, AUTO CLAIMS AND WORK COMP CLAIMS.

What is a biomechanical assessment?
This is an evaluation of your body's alignment and ability to move. It includes sections that assess posture, gait, trigger point palpation, flexibility, balance and core strength. The results of the biomechanical assessment allow the clinician to tailor an exercise program specific to each individual's needs.

How long do the sessions last?
Between 1 hour and 90 minutes.

What is the difference between machines and free weights?
The human body was design to move in 3 planes of motion yet machines focus on single joint movements in a one-dimensional approach. This is a stark contrast to the demands encountered each day in our daily activities. Even movements such as getting out of a car demand triplanar functionality. Free weight and functional body weight exercises are used to teach the body to function in these three planes of motion.

Can I do the exercise at home or do I need to be supervised?
Once you are trained to complete each exercise with proper technique and functionality, you will be given the freedom to complete the exercises outside of the clinic.

How soon should my pain decrease?
Many times, pain is immediately relieved during the session. Long-term pain relief is dependant on many variables such as severity of the injury, functional strength and flexibility. Most MIHP clients see a positive change within one to two weeks.

Violinist's Daily Dozen

The Violinist's Daily Dozen

Don't let headaches, neck pain and arm pain impact your performance. The Violinist's Daily Dozen was developed by the MIHP Think Tank in response to a growing need for injury prevention in the music community. Symptoms in the neck and arm are common and often career-ending in the professional violinist. The Violinist's Daily Dozen keeps these injuries away by correcting muscular and postural imbalances that occur with prolonged performance and practice times. Just a few minutes a day can save your career.
